Volvo wins 'Manufacturer of the Year' at Green Fleet Awards 2002

30 May 2002: A long-term commitment and proactive approach to safety and environmental care won Volvo the title of ‘Manufacturer of the Year’ at Green Fleet magazine’s annual awards ceremony in London on 23 May.

A typical example of this is the Volvo Bi-Fuel range (S40, V40, S60, V70 and S80) introduced last year. These have been designed, engineered and tested to also run on (cheaper) gas for lower, cleaner emissions. The gas tanks are discreetly located under the loadspace floor, so as not to cause any inconvenience or reduce load-carrying ability, and all Bi-Fuel models are made on the same production line as standard cars, and have a full Volvo three year warranty.

‘[Volvo] has extended its commitment to the continued good health of its customers and the general public with an intensive programme of product changes that reduce both its manufacturing and vehicles environmental impact,’ said Green Fleet magazine.

It continued; ‘With the recent arrival of new company car tax rules, this range offers business users practical, environmentally friendly and tax efficient transport.’
