All-ABS by July on track

09 December 2003: Carmakers are expected to meet their commitment to make antilock brake systems standard on all vehicles sold in Europe by July 1, 2004.

Some 90 percent of new vehicles sold by the end of this year will be equipped with ABS, according to ACEA, the association of European automakers.

ACEA made the ABS promise to the European Union in July 2001.

German suppliers Robert Bosch GmbH and Continental Automotive Systems (part of Continental AG) have 98 per cent of the European ABS market share between them.
