30 December 2003: More than two-thirds of the new Alfa Romeo GT's production will be sold out of Italy.
The company plans some 20,000 units a year total production, but only 6,000 at most are slated for domestic buyers.
The 5-seat spots coupe goes on sale in Italy in January, and RHD versions will be available in Ireland in March. It will have 2-litre petrol and 1.9-litre Multijet diesel power and also the 3.2-litre V6 petrol currently powering the GTA versions of the 147 and 156.
Development of the GT only cost €140 million because of significant parts carryover from the other models. This is against a typical €200 million bill for development of a similar car.
