UK biggest Audi export market

08 September 2004: The UK has overtaken the US as Audi's biggest export market.

In the first seven months this year, Audi sold about 47,000 vehicles in the UK compared with 45,000 in the US.

Audi's new A3 entry premium vehicle is selling well in the UK. Audi's US sales have slowed because two models popular in North America, the lower premium A4 and the medium premium A6, are ready for replacement.

A new large SUV based on the Pikes Peak concept car that shares the Volkswagen Touareg/Porsche Cayenne platform, should also boost sales in the US where SUVs are popular.
