25 September 2002: Audi may bring the next-generation A3 to the US as an entry-level car, according to company CEO Martin Winterkorn.

The new A3 will be built on the next Golf platform, which debuts this week in Paris as the Touran compact MPV (below).

And the VW Magellan, a sportwagon concept shown at this year’s Detroit Auto Show, will actually be badged as an Audi when it gets into production in 2005. The Magellan is based on the same floorpan as the VW Toureg SUV that goes on sale next year.
