Beetle cabrio for US this year

23 May 2002: A soft-top Beetle is to be introduced to the US market later this year. The cloth cabriolet roof will be similar to the one currently available with the Golf, and has been developed by Karmann.

A power-operated option will be available for the car, whic will be powered by either the 2-litre 115bhp engine or the 150bhp turbocharged unit, both used in the hardtop Beetle.

The already-tight rear seating capacity will be further compromised by the soft-top storage requirements and body stiffening work.
