
03 August 2004: BMW has announced prices and specification levels for the new 1 Series compact car due here in the autumn.
The car goes on sale in September with prices starting from 28,450.
Powered by a choice of four engines from launch, the 1 Series will be available as three different models - Standard, SE and Sport.
BMW Financial Services are offering finance packages starting from 299 per month.
The entry level variant has remote central locking, six airbags and Dynamic Stability Control combined with Dynamic Traction Control as standard.
Run-flat tyres, front electric windows, engine starter button, adjustable steering column along with passenger seat height adjustment and BMW Business CD player also feature.
The entry-level 116i has a 115bhp 1.6-litre Bi-VANOS petrol engine, while he other petrol engine to be offered is the VALVETRONIC 2.0-litrefour-cylinder unit.
Like the two diesel-powered cars offered, comes with a six-speed manualgearbox as standard.
The current flagship of the 1 Series range is the 120d. Powered by a 163bhp2.0-litre common-rail diesel engine and there's also a 118d with 122bh.
