D-C says no more mixing

15 July 2004: There will never be a Chrysler or Mitsubishi car on a Mercedes or Maybach platform, according to its board.

The exception was the Chrysler Crossfire, little more than a re-skinned previous-generation Mercedes SLK built by German contract coachbuilder Karmann.

The new Chrysler 300, which will be introduced in Europe in December, shares 20 percent of its parts by value from Mercedes, much of it coming from the previous-generation E class.
