Citroen makes Monte 1-2-3

27 January 2003: The Citroën Total team had a fantastic start to its first full participation in the World Rally Championship. The Xsaras of Sébastien Loeb – Daniel Elena, Colin McRae – Derek Ringer, Carlos Sainz – Marc Marti took the first three places on the oldest and most famous world rally. Under the management of Guy Fréquelin, the team renewed brilliantly last year’s excellent performance.

For the first time, in second place on the Monte Carlo circuit, Colin McRae and Derek Ringer (above, in the air) started their association with Citroën under the best circumstances. “We knew the Xsara could win here, but achieving a one-two-three, it’s just perfect. It’s a tremendous result for the team” said Colin McRae.

Out of fourteen participations in the Monte Carlo Rally, Carlos Sainz finished on the podium for the eleventh time.

Telefónica Movistar, Michelin, Magneti-Marelli, OZ, AIS and Citroën Financement are the partners of Team Citroën-Total in the World Rally Championship.
