Citroen recalls ABS C3s

28 January 2003: Citroen has recalled C3s equipped with ABS without ESP, manufactured between 15 September 2002 to 15 January 2003.

These vehicles can present a sealing defect of the ABS bloc. The water ingress might lead to the failure of the ABS system and the illumination of the ABS warning lamp. The brake function however is not affected at all.

Exceptionally, this water ingress might deteriorate more seriously the control unit (ECU) and lead to a short circuit.

In some exceptional cases, this short circuit may start a fire under the bonnet leading to material damages. However, no cases in of this are known in Ireland since C3 was launched.

The Citroen network has received the necessary instructions to carry out the check and eventual modification of the vehicles.

The operation will be carried out free of charge.
