
17 December 2001: An automatic switching-on of the hazard warning lights during abrupt deceleration is a feature on the 2002 Citroen Xsara, as announced this week in the line-up for Citroen products for 2002 by the importers, Gallic Distributors.
The hazard lights automatically switch themselves off when acceleration is again detected by the cars management computer. The Xsara now also comes with emergency braking assistance as standard across the range.
Retailing from EUR 17,014, Xsara now comes also with a rear wiper which operates automatically when the front wipers are on and reverse gear is engaged. Climate control air-conditioning is also standard on most Xsara models. A sports kit (pictured above) is available on the 1.4 litre VTR model for an extra EUR 1,523 and includes side skirts, front and rear bumpers and alloy wheels.
In other models, the supermini Saxo range now includes the 3- and 5-door 1.1 litre Furio with a new fresher interior look, retailing from EUR 11,500. A sports style body kit is available for an additional EUR 1,523 and includes tailgate spoiler, side skirts, front and rear bumpers and alloy wheels.
The Xsara Picasso MPV range, from EUR 21,330, now offers as an optional extra an electric double glass sunroof retailing at EUR 1,100. Other specification improvements include drivers seat lumbar support and front reading light. ABS with EBD, front fog lights, driver, passenger and lateral airbags, CD player, electric front windows, velour upholstery, onboard computer with 6 functions, steering wheel mounted stereo controls are also standard.
A Plus Pack consisting of automatic air conditioning, alloy wheels and front seat armrests is also available on the 1.6 petrol and 2.0 HDi versions at an extra EUR 1,530.
The C5 range, which retails from EUR 23,617, has an two additional versions for 2002. The 1.8 petrol includes as standard automatic headlights, automatic wipers, air conditioning, wooden finish dash, front and rear electric windows, armrests, six airbags and leather steering wheel and retails at EUR 25,140. The C5 estate lineup now includes a 2-litre petrol model from EUR 28,600 alongside a 2-litre HDI 110hp.
The Berlingo Multispace MPV with twin sliding doors now has passenger airbags standard across the range. It is available in a 1.4-litre petrol engine retailing at EUR 16,728 and a 1.9 diesel engine retailing at EUR 18,379. All prices are ex works.
Between 1st of January and 31st of March 2002, Citroën are giving EUR 1,000 cash back on the Picasso range and EUR 750 cash back on the Xsara range. TW
