Citroen moves to third place in van sales

03 January 2003: Citroën in Ireland increased both car and van market shares in 2002 and now controls 3.9% of the combined Irish car and van market compared to 3.5% at the end of 2001.

Citroën car share for 2002 grew to 2.8% from 2.3% while commercial vehicle share achieved 9.3% compared to 8.8% at the end of 2001. These gains were achieved in a car market that was down by 5.3% and a van market that was down by 9.8% on 2001.

With 3,202 van registrations, Citroen has now moved into third place in the Irish LCV registration league.

Paul Cregan, Managing Director of Gallic Distributors Ltd, the Citroën importers in Ireland, attributes Citroën’s success to ‘outstanding car and van ranges’ characterised by models like the new C3 Supermini, the technically advanced and spacious C5, and the class leading and recently restyled Berlingo van, the Xsara van, class leader for most of 2002 and the new Relay van, joint Semperit Irish Van of the Year 2003 with the Peugeot Boxer and the Fiat Ducato.

An improved and expanded dealer network will continue the Citroën growth in 2003.
