24 May 2002: The new Daewoo Rexton SUV goes on sale in Ireland in July. The highly-specced off-roader will be powered by a 2.9-litre Mercedes-Benz-derived turbodiesel engine.
The Rexton has high and low ratio 4WD, airconditioning, and alloy wheels and in ireland will come with leather seats and leather trimming on the steering wheel and gearshift. It will also have the 7-seat configuration which is optional in other markets.

A stack CD player is part of the sound system specification, and the tailgate has a flip-up glass feature for easy loading of shopping without opening the full door.
The vehicle's design went into development in 1996, and is very strongly-styled. Its interior includes many storage features now associated with MPVs.
The version to be introduced to Ireland will be competitively priced against competition such as the Isuzu Trooper and the Toyota Landcruiser.
The Rexton is the first of a new set of models to be introduced by Daewoo in the next year, including the Kalos supermini coming in September and the Magnus luxury top end saloon next year.
