26 September 2002: PARIS MOTOR SHOW. Daewoo Ireland is going to have a very busy year ahead of them with the arrival of no less than four new cars planned which will freshen the brand enormously and make the newly-revitalised company a much more serious contender in the market.
Daewoo Ireland MD Tom McQueirns told IrishCar.Com in Paris that the arrival of the new Kalos supermini shortly will lead off an offensive that includes a new 1-litre Matiz, the Evanda replacement for the Leganza, and a new Nubira.
The Kalos - which will come in both hatchback and saloon - replaces the Lanos, but McQueirns says it is a 'massive step up' from the car it replaces.
"It will have electric windows, dual airbags and central locking as standard, and we're going to place it as the best value in equipment terms in the supermini segment," he said.
The 1-litre Matiz is planned for arrival in the first quarter of next year, while the Evanda (below) large saloon is due in the middle of 2003. The new Nubira will probably be in Ireland in the third quarter, and a 5-door version of that saloon before the end of the year.
