Daly, father and son, join Kershaw for FF showcase
14 October 2001: Veteran Formula Fordster, Derek Daly (Castleknock) marks his position in the Irish team at Brands Hatch with his 20th foray in the annual Formula Ford Festival next weekend (October 20/21).
Derek and son, Stephen, will both be racing their Mygale SJ97/Scholar cars with backing from Spar, Peter Daly New Homes and EP Daly, Solicitors.
The third member of the Irish squad is Brittas, Co Dublin's Phillip Kershaw, the 19-year old run by Status Motorsport at the Formula Ford showcase. Kershaw will be campaigning a Mygale SJ00.
Derek Daly maintains: "Its a very small Irish entry, but we're going for a bit of fun. However, we're quietly confident that we'll get into the semi-final, although we're going for a place in the final too." The pair have rebuilt Scholar engines in their Mygales and will be helped over the weekend by Formula Europa series runner-up, Vivion Daly. LK
