Elderly drivers in intersections danger

8 October 2002: Elderly drivers are more likely to have accidents involving more than one car, and particularly at intersections, according to Canadian research.

A study of accidents involving the elderly carried out at the Departement des Soins longues durees, St Hyacinthe, Quebec, also found that prior accidents are a better predictor for accident risk than prior convictions.

The trends increased steadily with age groups in the study, which involved people aged 65 to 80 years or more.
