28 November 2003: The Ford Focus C-MAX is the first car to be awarded four stars in a new child protection test regime by Euro NCAP, the crash-testing organisation.
And the Renault Scenic and VW Touran both achieved five stars for occupant protection in the latest round of tests.
Apart from Audi and Mazda, all of the manufacturers have met the requirements of Euro NCAP's new seat belt reminder protocol. Euro NCAPs star rating is based on occupants being belted, thus seat belt reminder systems are vitally important.
The organisation said the number of manufactures scoring only one or two stars for pedestrian protection is still very disappointing.
