Phone travel tickets

23/10/04: by Brian Byrne — People in the Vogtland area of Germany can now buy travel tickets using their mobile phones.

The system will be available to 280,000 people for journeys on trains or buses.

When registered travellers book through a voice-recognition system, a 'virtual ticket' is sent to the mobile phone.
