Frank celebrates a brace of business anniversaries

17 May 2002: The days when a good mechanic and a car salesman could get together on a shoestring to launch their own motor business are long gone, according to the man who is arguably Ireland's best-known motor business success story.

Frank Keane, whose Motor Import Ltd has the Irish franchise for BMW cars and bikes, celebrates his 25th year with the franchise this summer ... and he was a full 50 years in the motor business last January.

In an exclusive interview in the May edition of Irish Car Magazine, on sale next week, Frank talks about his early days and his ups and downs in a 'roller-coaster' business, as well as his decade and a half of motor racing.

And he reveals what he would like to do today if he was starting out all over ...

Meantime, in the first of a series of extracts from his conversation with Brian Byrne and Trish Whelan, he can be heard on this RealAudio clip talking about 'starting the engine' of his motor business career.
