Ford introduces 1.6-litre Puma

15 June 2001: Ford has produced a 1.6-litre version of its Puma pretty sports coupe, filling a gap left when the 1.4-litre entry level model was discontinued last year.

The engine comes out of the Zetec-S version of the Fiesta, on whose platform the Puma is based. Specification includes ABS brakes, traction control, driver's airbag, RDS stereo and a perimeter alarm system.

Power output is 103bhp and theh car can do the 0-60mph dash in 10.4 seconds, 1.2 seconds slower than the 1.7. The new Puma is priced at £16,191, compared to £18,766 for the 1.7-litre.
