24 March 2003: Ford has launched a web-based portal, the Ford Learning Network, which integrates all training management, online testing and learning resources in a single place for use by the carmaker's 300,000 employees worldwide.

The network's library includes more than 400,000 titles, including 1,500 online courses, 1,900 e-books, an array of Ford internal online websites and hundreds of journals and periodicals.

The launch of the portal is the culmination of a three-year project that is expected to result in savings of $17m.
