09 September 2003: Toyota in Europe will now achieve the ambitious target of 800,000 vehicle sales a year in Europe this year instead of the target year of 2005.
Dr Takis Athanasopoulos, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Toyota Europe said this has been achieved through the success of recent products and the commitment of the Toyota sales team and dealers.
He said he the company has set itself a new challenge of 1.2 million sales by 2010.
Sales of Corolla are up 14 per cent this year, and the company has sold 80,000 units of the new Avensis since its launch. The RAV 4 sales are up 13 per cent and the new generation Land Cruiser has increased sales 110 per cent with 26,000 units sold so far.
The Lexus RX300 new model has achieved more than 5,000 sales since its launch.
