Visos shows cues for Ford future

10 September 2003: The Ford Visos concept car that took pride of place on the company's stand at this year's Frankfurt Show is described as 'disciplined drama' by Ford of Europe's design director, Chris Bird.

"We had the opportunity to be dramatic, yet we had to discipline our thinking so as to create a vehicle that is not only emotionally stirring and inspiring, but also one that is practical and feasible," he says. "The Visos delivers on all these aspects."

Though not slated for production, and not exactly the 'Capri replacement' as some commentators have suggested, many of the design features of the Visio will filter out into Ford cars of the future.

The concept is a full 4-seater, powered by a 3-litre 350hp V6 engine, and its interior features a variety of LCD screens for car and driving information and for entertainment.
