15 September 2003: Renault completed its New Megane range with the unveiling of the Grand Scenic at the Frankfurt Show.
When the seven-seat version of New Scenic goes on sale in Spring 2004, Renault will be the only manufacturer to offer a choice of two compact-MPVs of different lengths, following the example of Espace and Grand Espace. Increased wheelbase and rear overhang facilitates access to the third seat row and the luggage compartment.
At 4.49 metres, Grand Scenic is 23cm longer than New Scenic, but the overall balance of the vehicle is retained by stretching the wheelbase by 5cm and the rear overhang by 18cm.

The two additional individual seats fit perfectly into the interior space and fold completely beneath the floor when the vehicle is in its five-seat configuration. Whatever the arrangement of the seats in the third row, a carpet cover matching the cabin carpet covers the areas not in use.
When the second-row seats, mounted on slides, are in the forward position, two adults of average size can be comfortably accommodated in the rear of the vehicle.
In its seven-seat configuration, Grand Scenic provides the largest luggage space in its class with a volume of 200 litres. In the five-seat configuration, the 120mm sliding adjustment of each second-row seat allows the available space to be increased to 550 or 605 litres. The maximum load length, with the front passenger seat backrest folded down, is 2.75m. Finally, the load volume increases to 1920 litres if the second-row seats are removed.
