
17 December 2002: The chance to represent Ireland in the Land Rover G4 Challenge - the ultimate global adventure - has been narrowed down to two contestants following the Irish national final held in the Land Rover Experience Centre at Aughrim, Co Wicklow. Both will participate at an International Selections event in the UK next month, at which one of the two will be chosen as the Irish representative for the Land Rover G4 Challenge which begins in March 2003.
At the Aughrim event, the intensive day involved off -road driving, including blind driving and reverse steering challenges; mountain biking, written tests and interviews.
Stone mason Paul has travelled through Morocco and the Sahara, while Warren, a chartered accountant, has hiked to the Everest Base Camp in Nepal and Mountain Biked in Arizona.
The Land Rover G4 Challenge will involve competitors from 16 nations competing in exhilarating off-road driving and multi-sport challenges while travelling through some of the worlds most stunning scenery across 4,000 miles of daunting terrain over five weeks of intense competition. The course will explore the most remote areas as well as urban centres such as Quebec, Cape Town, Sydney and Las Vegas.
