8 August 2001: After a six-month layoff from motorsport in Galway as elsewhere to support the farming community during the foot and mouth scare, this weekend sees a resumption of activities in the west.

Galway Kart Race Meeting - Venue: Tynagh Race track, Sunday 12th August
Galway Motor Club will host a Kart race meeting at the fabulous Tynagh motorsport venue at Tynagh, Co. Galway. The track may be reached from Loughrea by following the road from Barrack Street, straight at Fizty’s corner following signs for Tynagh and Portumna. Galway Autocross - Venue: Ardrahan, Sunday 19th August
The Galway Motor Club Autocross on Sunday, August 19th will be near the village of Ardrahan, Co. Galway, on the N18. Practice starts at 12.00 noon with racing starting at 2.00pm. Signposts will be erected.

Galway Rally Sprint - Venue: Tynagh Race track, Sunday 2nd September
Galway Motor Club will return to the Tynagh Kart track on Sunday September 2nd when for the first time ever the Tynagh track will host a car meeting with the Galway Rallysprint.
