Geneva 2002 was a stunner

Well, we made it again to Geneva last week, which is one of the nicest shows on the calendar. Not least because there are just two main exhibition halls and while we still get sore feet, it's nothing like the marathons of Frankfurt and Paris.

Star of the Show? Hmm ... an impossible question to answer, because it depends on your view of cars. Some people head straight for the concepts, which often have a very sci-fi view of where the motor car is going. Others want to see the latest versions of production cars, while there are also those of us interested in new real technology.

There is, of course, something for everyone. Even for the model enthusiasts, so if you can't actually take a car off the stand, there are the miniatures ...

Some outstanding memories: an interview we did with Dr Larry Burns, which will appear soon in depth on IrishCar.Com - he's the mastermind behind GM/Opel's AUTOnomy fuel cell car concept, and he's a man living his dream; the fascinating Toyota p.o.d concept where every passenged has his or her own DVD screen; the full range of new Mazda6 cars which will be in Ireland this year; the quality of the lunch on the GM stand; the stylish new MPVs from Citroen and Peugeot; and the invitation-only launch of the new BMW CS1 Concept in the stunning former water pumping station in the middle of the Rhone river.

We give below some of our picture galleries from the event, and we'll be adding more stories and information from the show in coming features as we can digest all the material we collected.
