Japanese give Germans more satisfaction

08 December 2003: Japanese manufacturers took the top seven places in an semiannual survey in Germany of how satisfied motorists are with the customer service of the brands they own.

The only German make to get into the top 10 was Porsche at Number 8, which was followed by Saab and Hyundai, leaving BMW at Number 11.

Only Volvo and Jaguar of the so-called 'elite' brands managed into the next 10, while Rover actually pipped Audi to get 25th placing.

The last three in the 33-brand list were VW, Mercedes-Benz and Land Rover.

Some 38,454 members of the ADAC, Germany's largest automotive club, responded to the survey.
