22 August 2002: Id never want them to do it with my beloved Taylor acoustics, but a US communications group specialising in automotive work has built a 10-foot Fender Stratocaster guitar on wheels.
The guitarcar cost around $25,000 in labour and materials and will be auctioned for the benefit of a number of charities in Ohio. It is part of a GuitarMania exhibit featuring 10 foot-tall Fender Stratocaster® guitars that are being transformed into works of art.
The car has a fully fabricated frame, a mock small-block Chevy engine, classic American Racing Torque Thrust wheels and Yokohama tires. It is the compilation of phenomenal creative efforts and magnificent donations from many auto part vendors including Mr Gasket, Yokohama Tire Corporation, American Racing Custom Wheels, Lakewood and Hurst.
Hand-painted and airbrushed with flames and sporting an aluminum wing that doubles as a seat, this car pulls off the look of a true 60s style vintage dragster.
