Holdan hot coupe for Europe?

04 November 2002: Not likely for Ireland, but the big ‘hot’ Monaro Coupe produced by the Australian GM subsidiary Holden may well be imported to a number of European markets, including Britain.

The car, which is already being exported to the USA as a Pontian GTO, was shown at the recent Birmingham Motor Show, and is powered by a 5.7-liter, 302hp V-8 as already used in the Chevrolet Corvette.

The car displayed at Birmingham car had no brand badge, but it is said that the Holden name would be used rather than Opel or Vauxhall.
.
The Monaro could carry a price tag of around E41,000 if sold in Europe. The car has a claimed top speed of 250kph and 0-100kph acceleration time of 6.8 seconds.
