Powdered hydrogen on way?

01 September 2003: A US company has developed a method of storing hydrogen in powder form as a bridge between the current petrol fuel for internal combustion engines and the much-anticipated use of hydrogen.

The solid-state hydrogen storage system would get over the problems of storing liquid hydrogen in super-cooled form.

Energy Conversion Devices say they'll have a test Totoya Prius hybrid fuelled by the system on the road 'within three years' which will meet a US Department of Energy requirement of providing a range of 250 miles and a cost of $3 per kilogramme by 2008.
