Ka Rally heads for Carlow

02 May 2003: After the excitement of the last two rounds, the 2003 Ford Rallyesport KA Championship heads to the Carlow Stages on the 11th of May for the third round of this highly competitive series.

With two winners from the opening two rounds, the 2003 Championship is still wide open. The bookies favourites seem to have all fallen by the wayside and the outsiders have been spraying the champagne. Vivian Noone (Cashel) taking a well deserved win in Carrick and Ian Chadwick (Cork) inheriting a late victory in Kerry. The third round of the series sees the KA army head to the tight and twisty lanes in Carlow and Kilkenny, an event that is always unpredictable to say the least.

With a starting line up of 14 Pirelli shod Ford rockets the competition is destined to be as fierce as ever. Series leader Ian Chadwick in the Autopoint Ford KA will be trying hard to maintain his advantage. Despite a huge time loss on the opening stage in Kerry, Vivian Noone in the Gain Horse Feeds Ford KA will be trying hard after the confidence gaining after his opening round victory.

Newcomer to the series Eoghan Fogarty form Roscrea has shown real pace but a blown engine sidelined him in Kerry, Eoghan needs a good finish in Carlow to get his Championship Title hopes back on track. The revelation of the season Martin Laverty from Magherafelt has really turned up the wick and the old flashes of brilliance are starting to re-emerge, hopefully the accident he has in Kerry will not have any long-lasting effects.
