407 gets five stars

25 June 2004: Peugeot’s new 407 saloon has been awarded a 5-star rating in the latest round of the EURO NCAP safety tests for front and side impacts.

The 407 scored close to the maximum number of available points in the frontal impact. The head and seatbelt restraint systems and airbags, including a standard knee airbag for the driver, protected occupants and kept the driver’s chest and head away from the steering wheel.

Side impact protection includes side airbags and a curtain airbag, the whole length of the vehicle.

The car was also awarded a 4-star rating for child protection, ahead of the Honda Jazz, Renault Megane CC, Saab 9-3 and Fiat Doblo.

Peugeot’s Irish Sales & Marketing Director, Mark O’Connell said the newly launched 407 will now be regarded as one of the best looking, best equipped and safest cars in the market place.
