Prius makes NCAP history

24 June 2004: The Toyota Prius has become the first hyprid-powered car to achieve a 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test programme, and joins the Avensis and Corolla Verso with the rating.

The Prius also achieved an NCAP record 43 points and 4 stars in child protection in the tests.

Its 34 points equalled the highest score ever awarded in its class.
