New Micra beats production record

19 June 2003: Nissan's Sunderland plant in Britain broke one of its own production records yesterday by building its 100,000th new Micra in just over six months.

On average, nearly 4,000 Micras have rolled off the line every week since production of the new model began last November.
Production volume had to be increased to keep pace with customer demand for the new car right across Europe. Sales forecasts have already been revised upwards twice since the car went on sale in January.

The 100,000th car, a right hand drive 1.0 litre E-grade in Green, came off the line at 21.52 last evening.
