'Excellent interest' in new Astra

26 April 2004: Opel's new Astra officially went on sale at dealerships across Ireland over the weekend.

There was reportedly excellent interest in the new car, with dealers reporting a good footfall through showrooms, helped by the fine weekend.

The new Astra's price begins at €19,595.

Initially available in 5-door form it will be followed by a wagon later this year and then a 3-door coupe next spring.

The Astra a range of petrol and diesel engines with power outputs from 80bhp-200bhp, that last from a 2-litre turbocharged petrol. The entry-level engine is a new 90bhp 1.4-litre petrol unit.
