Opel Corsa concept suggests hot Opel hatch

27 November 2002: A turbo powered Corsa OPC concept, has its world premiere this week at the Essen Motor Show and gives clues as to how the Corsa might look if a GSi version went on sale.

The car is powered by an all new 1.6 litre ECOTEC turbo engine, developing in this form 175 hp and maximum torque of 210 Nm. The engine gives Corsa a top speed of 140mph, and a sprint time from 0–60mph of
7sec.

The Corsa OPC also gets front and rear spoilers, colour-keyed wheel arches and side sills, and 17-inch alloy wheels in classic Opel OPC design. The body sits 25mm lower than on the standard car.

Driver and front passenger get sports ‘bucket’ seats finished in blue Alcantara upholstery, with blue matching safety belts. The inside of the doors and selected sections of the instrument panel come with a mesh-style cover, and the instrument panel, adopted from the Corsa SRi, is finished in a matt chrome.
