Small roadster coming from Opel

16 May 2002: A Corsa or Agila-based roadster is being developed by Opel to pick up on the trend for small affordable roadsters, such as the upcoming Ford Streetka.

The styling will be based on the Frogster concept car shown at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show, and power is likely to come from the Corsa's 90bhp 1.4-litre unit as well as 1.6-litre powerplants. A 2-litre turbo-charged model may also be available.

The new car is expected to arrive in summer 2004, around the time the current Opel Speedster is to be discontinued.
