Paddy Corcoran to retire from Fiat Auto Ireland

20 August 2001: Fiat Auto Ireland has announced that Managing Director Paddy Corcoran (left), one of the best known and most respected figures in the Irish Motor Industry, is retiring from the Company at the end of October to pursue new personal endeavours.

The company has also announced that Michael Howe is to join as Commercial Director from Toyota Ireland with effect from 1 September.

Announcing these changes Fiat Auto Ireland CEO Paolo Gagliardo said that Paddy Corcoran’s commitment and contribution to the company and the Irish motor industry had been outstanding and he praised both his tireless enthusiasm and continuing pursuit of excellence.

Paddy Corcoran said that after 16 years with the Company he will obviously miss it, "But I had always planned to take the time to explore other career interests, he says. "I do this now knowing that with the new appointment Paolo Gagliardo leads an extremely strong, enthusiastic and highly motivated team."

Paddy joined Fiat Auto Ireland as Sales Director in 1985 and was appointed Managing Director in 1987. He was also President of the Society of the Irish Motor Industry in 1994-95 and has worked on many of its key committees.

Michael Howe has worked in Toyota Ireland since 1978 and is Product and Market Planning Director of the Company. "His background and experience make him exceptionally well qualified to be a leading player in this Company’s programme for growth and expansion in the years ahead," said Paolo Gagliardo.
