4 March 2002: Peugeots new 307 SW wagon, due in Ireland in May, has a wheelbase 10cm longer than that of the 307 hatchback.
The 307 Sky Wagon allows the customer to choose the configuration of the interior layout as the driver wishes; seven individual, removable seats can be positioned to appropriate the needs for a particular journey, giving the vehicle the flexibility of an MPV while retaining the shape and style of a wagon.
The interior is remarkably light, thanks to the panoramic glass roof (measuring 1.33m), which covers the full width of the roof and extends over the front and second row passenger seats. The car features the biggest windscreen in its class, and theres a large rear screen to aid rearward vision. In fact, a third of the 307 SWs total body area is made of glass. Storage and useful features include fold-down tables on the front seat backs, and pull out storage drawers under both front seats.
The new Peugeot 307 SW GTX is offered with a choice of 1.6-litre 16 valve petrol or 2.0-litre HDi 90bhp engines. A choice of five-speed manual gearbox or automatic Porsche Tiptronic gearbox (1.6-litre petrol version) is available.
