Peugeot 406 is overall UK top towcar

5 October 2001: Peugeot has won The Caravan Clubs overall Towcar of the Year Award for the third time, and the second occasion with the same model the Peugeot 406.
The diesel-powered 406 GTX 2.2 HDi Estate saw off no less than 45 cars competing for six titles, to take the overall title, Caravan Club Towcar of the Year 2002. The Peugeot 406 saloon took the same overall honour in 1997, and the Peugeot 505 saloon in 1980.
The three-day assessment was carried out at the Millbrook Proving Ground by five driving judges, who assessed each car on its towing performance, awarding points for traction, stability, braking, acceleration and hill-starting, all with a caravan attached. Cars were also assessed by four further judges, for their caravan-ability; this includes the vehicles user-friendliness, and ability to comfortably accommodate driver, passengers and their associated holiday luggage.
The Peugeot 406 Estate is the best selling estate car in its class in the UK . TW
