16 December 2002: Peugeot's new 807 MPV will arrive in Ireland in January with a 2-litre petrol SR model, a 2-litre HDi 110bhp SRDT and a 2-litre HDi 110bhp STDT. Prices will be announced closer to the launch date.
The new Peugeot 807 succeeds the 806, and like that vehicle has also been produced with industrial co-operation between Fiat and PSA Peugeot Citroen.
The architecture of the 806 has been retained, but the new 807 has a significantly modified structure and underbody. The presence of impactors and relocation of the battery to restrict engine intrusion into the passenger compartment are two examples.
A panoramic windscreen, measuring nearly 2m2, is modern and dynamic in looks. Interior modularity, already seen in the Peugeot 307 Sky Wagon, allows multiple configurations or removal of any of the seven individual seats to suit passengers and load. The new 807 is also available with 8 seats, whereby an optional bench-seat for two people is fitted in the rear allowing three passengers to sit in the third row, rather than only two.
Standard safety features include driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags, ABS, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, emergency brake assist and auto illumination of the warning lights. In fact the curtain airbags, which protect the heads of passengers in all three rows of seats is a world first. The 807 has already been awarded 4 stars for safety in the latest round of Euro NCAP safety tests.
Additional standard features include a radio/mono CD player, automatic climate control, trip computer, variable power steering, automatic central locking when the vehicle is moving, plip control central locking, electric/heated door mirrors, electric front windows and an athermic windscreen.
