8 November 2001: Land Rover has released the first photographs of the new Range Rover, which goes on sale in February 2002.
The all-new vehicle is powered by a choice of 4.4-litre petrol V8 and 3.0-litre turbodiesel six-cylinder engines. It has full-time four-wheel drive and uses independent suspension front and rear.
It is only the third all-new Range Rover in 31 years, but it retains all the distinctive Range Rover styling cues, with the makers believing it essential that people instantly recognise the new vehicle as a Range Rover.
The interior is more revolutionary, and the vehicle features a number of technological innovations to improve both on- and off-road ability.
The Range Rover's world premiere is planned for the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January. BB
