Renault return to US in 2010?

12 December 2003: Renault will return to the US market because it is 'the most profitable in the world' but not before 2010, according to CEO Louis Schweitzer.

In an interview with Automotive News he said that 'it would not be logical' for an expanding company to stay away from a market that represents 30 per cent of all cars sold in the world.

But he said he would only bring the company back to North America with 'a winner'.

Saying that such a product would have to have 'immediiate appeal' he cited the Peugeot 206, the VW Beetle and Renault's own Dauphine as such 'winners'.
