Saab drivers 'safest' - US report

08/11/04: by Brian Byrne — Drivers of the Saab 9-5 sedan and 9-5 Wagon are among the safest group of drivers in the market according to a report published by the US-based Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI).

In the report, the researchers said the Saab 9-5 sedan topped the luxury midsize category for relative frequency of injury insurance claims.

The study covered model years 2001-2003, and compared cars on the basis of cost of injuries sustained following on-road crashes.

Both the 9-5 sedan and Wagon achieved a rating of 'substantially better than average' for injury claims.
