Saab 9-3X for Detroit unveiling

14 December 2001: Saab's first venture into the off-road market is being shown as the 9-3X Cross-Over Coupe, to be unveiled to the public at January's Detroit Motor Show.

A production off-roader based on the next-generation 9-3 is likely to go into production in 2004, though the 9-3 itself is due before next autumn.

Saab is taking a similar approach to Audi's Allroad and Volvo's Cross Country rather than a full off-roader with the Cross-Over, and it is just one of several new projects to be unveiled in a programme of concepts or production cars over the next six years. BB
