June arrival for Skoda Superb

20 May 2002: Skoda’s new flagship Superb is expected to arrive here at the end of June.

Six engine versions make up the range being sold here - three petrol and three diesel each available in three trim and specification packages (Classic, Comfort and Elegance) in a choice of thirteen colours and eight upholstery options.

Petrol models begin with an entry-level 2.0-litre 115bhp version at 27,700 euros, followed by a 1.8-litre turbocharged 150bhp version at 29,500 euros and a 2.8-litre V6 193bhp version at 37,400 euros. Diesel models range from a 1.9-litre TDI, 100bhp version at 28,500 euros to a more powerful 130bhp version at 30,400 euros to a 2.5-litre V6 TDI 155bhp version with 6-speed gearbox at 38,600 euros.

All models come with Climatronic air conditioning, ABS brakes, EDL electronic differential lock, electric windows, front/side airbags, remote central locking, front/rear central armrest, factory fitted CD, integrated fog lamps, trip computer, and a climate controlled storage box fitted between the front seats in which cold food or drinks can be kept.

Options include 16" or 17” alloys, wiper rain sensor, auto dimming rear view mirror, improved upholstery, an umbrella with its own storage compartment, bi-xenon headlamps with washers, electric driver's seat with memory, cruise control, 'Vavona' wood interior and combination leather/fabric upholstery.

Skoda Sales Manager in Ireland Colin Sheridan expects over 80 percent of sales to come from the 1.9-litre diesel engines.
