29 December 2002: Prices for the new SEAT Cordoba have been set at E15,650 for the 1.2 Stella model, the entry version, and go up to E24,050 for the 130bhp 1.9TDi Sport. The higher spec Signo 1.2 will cost E16,650.
There are two 1.4 models, the 75bhp Signo at E17,150 and the more powerful 100bhp two-door Sport model at E19,650. Diesel power starts at E17,650 for the 1.9 SDi 64bhp Stella, with the 130bhp 1.9 TDi Sport at E24,050.
Roomier than its predecessor, the Cordoba adopts the new SEAT family sporty lookwith a high, wedge-shaped waistline and wide track. The new car is 117 mm longer, 58 mm wider and 17 mm taller than before, while it sits on a wheelbase that has been increased by 17 mm.
The entry level Stella version includes twin airbags, radio CD player, electric front windows, electro-hydraulic power steering, remote central locking, pollen filter, height adjustable drivers seat, height and reach adjustable steering wheel and electrically adjustable headlights as standard.
Sport specification is aimed at more performance minded drivers, while Signo adopts a more luxurious approach.
The most potent Cordoba is powered by a 130bhp 1.9 litre high performance TDi turbo diesel, mated to a six speed gearbox. All this adds up to a possible top speed of 131 mph and a 0-62mph of 9.7 seconds, making it the most powerful diesel in its class.
