West Link second toll bridge to open in September

29 March 2003: Construction of the second West-Link Bridge is on-target for completion in September. As construction of the Bridge moves into its final phase, there will be a significant increase in activity in and around the West-Link area in the coming months.

Both bridges are due to be fully operational by September/October of this year.

Where possible work will be done at night, during off-peak periods and on a phased basis between April and September. However, temporary traffic arrangements including speed restrictions, traffic diversions, temporary road markings and surfaces and off-peak lane restrictions, will be necessary during this period.

NTR plc is currently distributing an information leaflet to West-Link customers and appropriate local bodies. NTR will also provide regular updates on developments during the final phase of construction of the second West-Link Bridge in the form of Information signs on approaches to West-Link, in the Toll Lanes and in the Plaza area. There will also be regular bulletins broadcast through AA Roadwatch.

Also between now and June there will be the construction of new a southbound exit to Galway Road, and extension to the northbound West-Link Toll Plaza – increasing
the number of toll booths to seven, and the creation of an additional toll booth to southbound traffic.

From June to August, work on the refurbishment of existing West-Link Bridge will have the bridge closed.
