VW forecasts 180,000 Tourans

14 January 2003: VW aims to produce 180,000 Touran compact MPVs in 2003. The vehicle is based on the next Golf platform.

Europe's biggest carmaker is depending on the Touran to boost its sales at a time when its bread-and-butter Golf and Passat models are suffering from a low point in their product cycle.

Analysts say the launch of the Touran and the Touareg SUV (below) models should partly compensate for the recent sales weakness.
